Flu is a highly infectious disease and can lead to serious complications for someone who has a long-term health condition like:

• Bronchitis

• Emphysema

• Diabetes

• Heart, kidney, liver disease

• Suffered a stroke

Flu on top of health conditions like these can easily develop into something very serious and could land the person in hospital. People with these and other long-term health conditions are eligible for a FREE flu jab through their GP or pharmacist.

Symptoms of flu can be very unpleasant and last for several weeks. Flu can lead to more serious complications like pneumonia or bronchitis for those with underlying health conditions, and in some cases it can be fatal.

People most at risk are those aged over 65, carers, pregnant women and children from age two. Attached is a flyer which explains the at risk groups and who is eligible for a FREEflu jab.

Flu vaccination is part of the Stay Well This Winter campaign, a joint initiative from NHS England and Public Health England, to help the public fight common winter illnesses.
