Understanding GDPR

The European General Data Protection Regulations took effect on 25 May 2018, extending individual rights and placing greater transparency requirements on organisations. This workshop looks at what GDPR means for voluntary and community groups, and what they should be doing to continue processing data lawfully.

The workshop will provide a broad overview of GDPR; and how it affects the way organisations collect and process data. The main emphasis will be on the key steps needed in order to comply with GDPR.

Participants will:

  • Have an understanding of GDPR key features.
  • Be aware of their organisation’s duties and the steps needed to ensure compliance with data protection law.
  • Be more confident in applying best practice to data protection.

The workshop will be run by David Green, director of Green Pepper Consulting. David has many years of experience dealing with employment relations, employment law and management issues, including in the area of data protection. He is also the trustee lead on data protection for a Leicestershire charity.
